National Junior Honor Society

All Saints Academy is proud to have an established chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).

The National Junior Honor Society was established by the National Associate of Secondary

School Principals (NASSP) to recognize outstanding middle school level students. NJHS

serves to honor students who demonstrate excellence in areas of scholarship, service,

leadership, character, and citizenship. In addition, NJHS candidates and members should exemplify honesty, dependability, positive behavior1s, and good character.

Membership in NJHS is an honor that is earned by the student and awarded to a student by a faculty council, which consists of 5 faculty members appointed by the Head of School and Assistant Head of School. Chapter advisers, appointed by the Head of School, are non-voting members of the faculty council. The advisers are responsible for overseeing and promoting chapter activities throughout the school year.

The co-advisers for NJHS at All Saints Academy are Mrs. Beth Crowley and Mrs. Ellen Tagg.  Following the recommendation of the national office, the names of the faculty councilmembers are kept confidential because it is the chapter advisers, Assistant Head of School and Head of School who are responsible for responding to parental or student concerns. This includes inquiries about why a student was not selected for induction into the chapter.

To be eligible to apply, a student must maintain a GPA of 85 or higher and be enrolled in

the 6th , 7th , or 8th grade at All Saints Academy. Once inducted into NJHS, students are expected to continue to meet the level of excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship that led to their selection. Chapter members will also be expected to be actively involved in planning and carrying out chapter service projects.
